Inge Sengelmann, LCSW, SEP, is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Florida (Lic.# SW9606) specializing in trauma-focused therapy and mind-body integration to help individuals, couples and families adjust to the stress of life events. She maintains a private practice in Miami, Florida, where she also has worked as a primary therapist at Oliver Pyatt Centers, an eating disorders treatment center, since 2008. Her past experience includes work with youth and adult clients with extensive trauma histories (domestic violence, childhood physical and sexual abuse, sexual battery, political torture, kidnapping), and with clients in recovery from substance abuse and eating disorders who present with complex adaptations to trauma and co-morbid presentations of mood and personality disorders.
A graduate of Florida International University, Inge works with a broad spectrum of clients. She has received training in Somatic Experiencing (SE), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills.
In addition, Inge has presented at conferences and conducted workshops for professionals and general audiences on topics ranging from critical perspectives on psychotropic medications, to mindfulness approaches for the treatment of trauma and eating disorders, to the spiritual dimensions of human experience.
Inge is a holistic, integral, solution-focused therapist. Her treatment approach is grounded in attachment and trauma theories, existential/humanistic philosophy, as well as body-centered (sensory awareness) and mindfulness frameworks. She incorporates a blend of conventional and alternative modalities and interventions, drawing upon a variety of styles and techniques to incorporate what will be most helpful for each individual client.
With sensitivity and compassion, she works with each client to help them build on their strengths to identify and achieve life goals and become more resilient.
